Zoom in. That’s us !

Wanna know the story?

It all started in like… 2012? 2013?

We met in high school. Greg played on the men’s volleyball team. Faryn on the women’s. One of us wore too much mascara. The other had very questionable facial hair.

Don’t call us high school

sweethearts though.

There were lots of drives down Charleston to Red Rock mountains listening to Arctic Monkeys and ‘Drops of Jupiter.’ Lots of volleyball practices. There was even one pre-game warmup where Greg hit a ball square into the middle of Faryn’s face and proceeded to get mad at HER for ruining what could’ve been his best hit ever. A couple years after meeting each other, Greg took Faryn on her first “real date” for her 17th birthday on the High Roller ferris wheel in Las Vegas.

Greg graduated high school and went to UNLV for 1 year before transferring to Loras College in Iowa to finish school. At that point, Faryn graduated high school and bopped around to California and Colorado for her first year of college when the two reconnected and began 3 years of a long distance relationship. During that time, Faryn moved back to Vegas to finish school at UNLV and found her way to Austin in 2019. At the same time, Greg had an opportunity through work to relocate to Houston. After 9 months of switching off between Houston and Austin each weekend to see each other, it was time to put the long distance nonsense to an end.

So… Houston or Austin?

LOL like there was even a debate here.

Domestic bliss,
as they say.

We moved in together in Austin in January 2020. Covid hit. We adopted our first puppy (Sock). Greg went to grad school at the University of Texas. Faryn bought a house. We adopted our second pup (Worm). We traveled all over the world. We got laid off. Got new jobs. Created an amazing community of friends. Greg bought a house. We became an aunt and uncle for the first time. Got super into playing cards for a while. Greg built a deck. Faryn bought a new couch recently… And that pretty much catches you up!

12 years later… The engagement!

That’s the story you’re here for, right?

Back to where it began.

On a trip back home to Vegas to celebrate our niece’s first birthday in November 2024, Greg did the impossible and truly surprised Faryn. It was a chilly morning, slightly windy. The perfect weather for Faryn to turn down the hike Greg had been subtly suggesting we do for weeks leading up to our trip. Luckily, we persevered through the tundra (50 degrees) and hiked our way to the top of Lone Mountain. We talked about who knows what on the 30 minute hike to the top until Greg began his speech. We’ll keep the sappy details of what was said to ourselves, but the important thing to note is that Faryn didn’t know what was happening, even then, because Greg says sweet things all the time!

So… In the middle of Greg’s speech, Faryn nicely interrupted to ask to keep moving to a different spot of the peak because where they were was rocky and hard to stand on. (How’s a girl to know she’s about to get proposed to!) And thank goodness she did have them move because how could Greg have gotten down on one knee on such a rocky area?! And that’s just what he did. One knee. Will you marry me? Yes! Hug, kiss, love. The most special moment to start the next chapter of our lives looking out over the city where our story began. 12 years, less mascara, and better facial hair later…

Let’s get married!

Hope you’re there to party with us on November 8, 2025!
